Think Tank Updates its Airport Rollers

September 8, 2016 By Eric Reagan

airport-security-v3-0-lowres

Think Tank Photo has released new versions of its Airport rolling camera bags.

They feature improved handles, greater durability, and dedicated laptop and tablet compartments.  To understand how these rolling bags differ, the Airport International is sized to comply with international carry on size requirements and the Airport Security is sized for US domestic air travel.

The Airport International V3.0 (for international carry on requirements) holds two gripped DSLRs with lenses attached, plus two to four additional lenses, a 15” laptop, and a 10” tablet.  The roller fits up to a 500mm f/4 detached or 400mm f/2.8 attached (hood reversed).

The Airport Security V3.0 (for US domestic carry on requirements) holds two gripped DSLRs with lenses attached plus four to six additional lenses, a 17” laptop, and a 10” tablet.  The bag fits up to a 600mm f/4 detached or 500mm f/4 attached (hood reversed).

With our partnership with Think Tank, you receive free gear and free shipping with every order you place for their gear.

Check them out at the following links:

Reader Photos Roundup: September 4, 2016

September 4, 2016 By Eric Reagan

Sri Lanka Highlands II

It’s time for our weekly roundup of reader photos from the Photography Bay Flickr Group.

This week is a little special since we crossed 200,000 photos in our Flickr group earlier in the week. Some photographers have been sharing their photos for years in the Photography Bay Flickr Group. I’ve seen every single photo since the group started in July 2008. Some Saturday nights, I’ll sit and look at your photos for hours. One thing I’m proud of is that we haven’t missed a weekly roundup since we started doing them in 2008 or early 2009 (we did daily photos there for a while).

If you haven’t participated in the group or looked through other photographers’ images, I’d encourage you to check it out. There are well over 1,000 images posted each week to the group and this roundup only accounts for a tiny fraction of some amazing work out there. I’ve personally learned from so many of you by just evaluating your work every week. I really enjoy this post, which is probably why I’ve never missed a week…

Thanks to everyone who shares!

Check out the rest of this week’s photos below. [Read more…]

How to Place a Logo Behind a Person in Photoshop

August 21, 2016 By Eric Reagan

In this video from Phlearn, Aaron Nace walks through how to place a logo behind a person in Photoshop. The process is pretty straightforward but can vary in the level of complexity depending on how detailed the background is. You’ll need to select the subject from the background using something like the magic wand or the pen tool. Then, you’ll create a layer mask for your logo or text layer from the selection. At that point, you’ll be able to place your logo partially behind the subject. Check out the full video above for the complete walkthrough.

Nikon D750 for $1696 at Amazon

August 21, 2016 By Eric Reagan

D750_front.low

Amazon dropped the price on the Nikon D750 from $1996.95 down to $1696.95. This is the “ships from and sold by Amazon.com” offer. It’s still $1996 everywhere else.

This does not appear to be a gray market or refurbished item. It is listed as new and with a full Nikon USA warranty.

The price drop has caused the D750 to drop from a bestselling rank of 400-500 down to the top 80 in the Camera & Photo department. Not sure how long this will last but if you want a deal on the D750, you should jump on this one. Check it out here at Amazon.com.
