Nikon Unveils New 500mm f/4 and 600mm f/4 Super Telephoto Lenses

Nikon AF-S 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens

Nikon has announced the new AF-S 500mm f/4E FL ED VR and AF-S 600mm f/4E FL ED VR lenses, priced at $10,300 and $12,300, respectively.

The new super telephoto lenses shave pounds off of their predecessors. The new 500mm weighs in at 6.8 lbs (compared to 8.5 lbs for its precessor), while the new 600mm lens weighs 8.3 lbs (compared to 11.5 lbs for its predecessor). [Read more…]

New 20MP Sensor w/ 4K Video Rumored for Nikon D5

Fotodiox Unveils ND Throttle Lens Adapter with Built-in Vari-ND Filter

Fotodiox’s new ND Throttle allows you to adapt medium format lenses to Canon and Nikon DSLRs. It also includes a built-in variable ND filter, which allows you to use a variable ND filter on even wide-angle lenses.

The variable ND filter inside the ND Throttle adapter gives you a range from ND 2 to ND 1000. It is available for Pentax 645, Mamiya 645 and Hasselblad V lens systems. DSLR mounts include Canon EOS and Nikon F mount systems. [Read more…]

Nikon D750 Firmware Update C1.02 Makes Camera “More Reliable”

Nikon has issued an update for the D750 to firmware version C1.02. According to Nikon, the firmware update simply provides that “Camera operation is now more reliable.”

The Nikon D5500 is the latest starter camera in Nikon’s DX line. It is a step up from the D3300 and a step below the D7200. As such, it serves a nice position as an upgrade camera for beginners and a powerful package for enthusiasts.

The D5500 goes head-to-head against the Canon Rebel T6i and Rebel T6s models. In many sections of the spec sheet, the D5500 best the Canon alternatives and rivals even more advanced models. [Read more…]
