Panasonic GH4 Paired with 44-2415mm Fujinon Lens

June 2, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Fujinon XA55x9.5 Lens

Check out these cool shots captured with a Panasonic GH4 and a Fujinon 9.5-525mm B4 mount ENG lens.

The lens is made for 2/3″ sensor ENG and studio cameras; however, Fotodiox makes a handy little B4 to Micro Four Thirds mount adapter. When you use the adapter coupled with the 2.6x extender feature of the GH4, then you can cover the active sensor area with the smaller image circle.

Stacking the 2.6x extender on top of the Micro Four Thirds 2x crop factor gives you a massive reach with this lens. [Read more…]

Blackmagic’s Pocket Cinema Camera was Used for Scenes in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”

June 1, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Avengers-Pocket-Cinema-Camera

Avengers: Age of Ultron cinematographer Ben Davis, who also shot Guardians of the Galaxy, used the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera to get shots within the action sequences of the film.

We previously saw the Canon 5D Mark II show up as a crash-cam and POV camera on Captain America. The Pocket Cinema Camera doesn’t really come off as a surprise to work in tight spaces for action shots. It is smaller and cheaper than HDSLRs like the 5D Mark II. Additionally, it has an incredible 12-bit RAW image in a form-factor the size of a compact camera.

Check out the details of how Davis used the Pocket Cinema Camera in the press release below. [Read more…]

The Canon EOS C300 Mark II is due out in September. The above short film, Trick Shot, is the first film shot on the new C300 Mark II and it is made available on YouTube in full 4K resolution. You may have to click over to YouTube if you have a 4K display and watch to want it at full resolution.

The short was directed by Evan Kaufmann and shot by cinematographer Gale Tattersall, who you might recall also made headlines after he shot an episode of House M.D. entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II.
