Boris Continuum Complete 8 FxPlug Now Available for Apple Final Cut Pro X

Some news I missed back during the CES 2013 onslaught was the release of Boris Continuum Complete 8 FxPlug for Final Cut Pro X. Boris Continuum Complete 8 FxPlug offers the popular Boris effects, graphics, templates and transitions to FCP X.

BCC 8 FxPlug is available for $995 direct from Boris. Owners of prior versions of BCC FxPlug can upgrade for $295.

Olympus XZ-10 and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II Lens Coming Soon

New leaks point to a new Olympus XZ-10 compact camera and 75-300mm Micro Four Thirds lens coming next week during the CP+ show in Japan.

The XZ-10 is rumored to be a high-end compact camera that will likely serve as a replacement or companion model to the Olympus XZ-2.

The new lens will be the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II Micro Four Thirds lens that will be a 150-600mm equivalent zoom lens. The first version of this lens is already listed as discontinued.

Model Cameron Russell on the Power of Image

We hear so much noise in the media about fashion photography and the use (overuse?) of Photoshop. However, as model Cameron Russell notes in her TED talk below, there’s so much more than Photoshop that goes into the construction of fashion photography.

Beyond that though, Russell digs into the power of image and how it has affected her life and the lives others who don’t necessarily look like the typical runway model.

Sony NEX-3N and Sony Alpha A38 & A58 Coming Soon?

The next round of cameras coming from Sony are rumored to be entry-level models. Specifically, the mirrorless Sony NEX-3N is rumored to fill in the place of the current (and excellent) Sony NEX-F3.

Additionally, a pair of SLT Alpha models – the A38 and A58 – should replace the current A37 and A57. Both of the current models feature a 16.1MP APS-C sensor. [Read more…]

Blackmagic Design, “Kodak” and Others Join Micro Four Thirds System Standards Group

It has been close to 5 years since the introduction of the Micro Four Thirds system by Olympus in August 2008. In that time, cameras from Olympus and Panasonic have developed a strong hold on the mirrorless camera market.

Now, five additional manufacturers are joining the Micro Four Thirds System Standards Group, two of which we have heard recent news about.

  1. Blackmagic Design
  2. JK Imaging
  3. Photron Limited
  4. SVS-Vistek
  5. ViewPLUS

Blackmagic previously announced the Blackmagic Cinema Camera in a Micro Four Thirds mount, which followed the initial Canon EF mount BMCC version. Additionally, JK Imaging recently reveals plans to bring a Kodak Micro Four Thirds camera to market through its licensed use of the Kodak brand.
