Pentax DSLR Firmware Updates

Pentax has issued updates for four of its DSLRs – the K-m/K2000, K20D, K200D and K10D.  The new firmware is designed for “Improved stability of recording image for some SDHC Memory card.”

Nokia VP Says Cell Phone Cameras Will Replace DSLRs

Apparently, Anssi Vanjoki, Executive VP at Nokia, has been sippin’ a bit too much of grandpa’s cough medicine.  According to a report from Reuters, Vanjoki was quoted as saying that cell phone cameras would soon “revolutionise the market for system cameras” and that “[t]here will be no need to carry around those heavy lenses.” [Read more…]

Leica V-Lux 20 Announced

The Leica V-Lux 20 is a new 12.1MP point and shoot camera with a 12x optical zoom (25-300mm equivalent).  The V-Lux 20 is essentially a Leica clone of the Panasonic ZS7.  The V-Lux 20 carries an initial retail price of $699.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Digital Wedding Photographer’s Planner is a book by photographer Kenny Kim.  The book has an apt title.  It really is a “planner” for wedding photographers.

What the book doesn’t do is give you a bunch of technical how-to’s for shooting weddings.  Instead, Kenny Kim provides a walk-through of shooting a wedding – from meeting the client, to shooting the engagement session, to all the parts of the wedding itself. [Read more…]

Panasonic G10 and G2 Pricing Announced

Panasonic has announced pricing for its two newest Micro Four Thirds cameras, the Lumix G2 and Lumix G10.  Both cameras will come equipped with the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens.

Redrockmicro DSLR Micro Remote with iPhone App Focus Control

Redrockmicro, maker of all sorts of great DSLR video products, is working on a DSLR remote for its follow focus system that can be controlled wirelessly by an iPod Touch or iPhone.  The follow focus remote is pretty cool on its own, but add in the ability to control and program focus from an iPhone and it looks absolutely magical.
