March 6, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Adobe Lightroom 4

Adobe Lightroom 4 is officially out of the gate after a brief leak last week.  The price for the full version at launch is $149 (half off the $299 list).  Upgrades drop $20 less, down to $79.

If you’ve been following along with the beta release, then you have a pretty good idea what Lightroom 4 is like; however, we’ll hit the highlights below for those wondering what all the fuss is about. [Read more…]

Photoshop CS6 Sneak Peek

February 29, 2012 By Eric Reagan

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FffZ22_o_6M&w=640&h=360]

Here’s another Photoshop CS6 Sneak Peek.  This one shows off a selective focus tool that can be quickly applied.

Note the available options include field blur and tilt shift in addition to the iris blur demonstrated in the video.  It will be interesting to see how this works when you want to show some shallow depth of field behind a subject while the subject remains in place.  I would imagine that that you’ll be able to mask your subject out and then apply the blur to the background layer similar to how we already do in Alien Skin’s Bokeh 2.

Hopefully, the wait won’t be much longer…

‘Act of Valor’ Made with Premiere Pro, After Effects and Other Adobe Tools

February 28, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Here’s a short video that takes you behind the scenes of ‘Act of Valor‘, which was shot on the 5D Mark II, and shows how Adobe products were used to help make the film.  I knew that Adobe products were used quite a bit on the film; however, I was still surprised to hear that most of the visual effects in the film were done in After Effects.

It looks like most/all of the Adobe products that Bandito Bros used can be found in Adobe Production Premium.

February 15, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Adobe Creative Cloud - Everything You Need

Adobe is about to shake things up a bit with a new subscription model for its Creative Suite applications.  Adobe has kinda soured the milk recently with its decision to cut upgrades for earlier versions of its software (which it later rescinded for this upgrade cycle), so I’m curious to see how all of this shakes out.
