New Leica Camera at Photokina

September 14, 2010 By Eric Reagan

New Leica Camera

A frequent tipster passed along the above email from Leica, which confirms a new Leica camera for Photokina 2010.  The new marketing campaign appears centered around Leica’s Facebook fan base.  Check out the short stop-motion promo below (apparently, the new camera doesn’t shoot video…): [Read more…]

iPhone Meets Canon SLR

September 6, 2010 By Eric Reagan

iPhone Canon SLR

There may not be a practical point to make with this contraption, but it still has a certain novelty factor to it.  One industrious (or maybe bored) iPhone owner, who apparently had an old Canon SLR lying around, decided to gut his SLR to make room for an iPhone mounted on the rear.

The result?

Well, you’ll have to see the video that shows off the Frankencamera below. [Read more…]

The Best Camera Coming to Android Phones

June 21, 2010 By Eric Reagan

I sat down to watch the Chase Jarvis and Zack Arias live interview session late one night last week.  While I watched a recorded version of it, they were taking Twitter questions during the live stream.  One question asked Chase whether The Best Camera app would be coming to Android.  I don’t recall his exact words, but Chase’s response made it clear that The Best Camera is in the works for Android.  No details of availability dates were spilled, and really, the comments about the app were just for a few seconds, but it appears to be on the way nonetheless.

I’m not sure where the video was at when Chase discussed this (it’s probably in the last 45 minutes or so), but feel free to add the time stamp in the comments if you catch it.

Kodak EasyShare Z950 Review

March 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Kodak Z950 is a 12MP point and shoot camera with a 10x optical zoom.  It has built-in optical image stabilization and features a large 3-inch LCD.  What surprises me about the Z950 is the number of features and amount of control available in a camera at a price point around $200. [Read more…]

Clik Elite Camera Bags for Adventure Photographers

March 17, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Clik Elite Camera BagsClik Elite Camera Bags

Calling Clik Elite’s products ‘camera bags’ is a bit of an understatement.  So, consider the keyword in the title to be ‘adventure’ instead.

I ran into the guys from Clik Elite at PMA 2010, and they were kind enough to give me a rundown of their product line.  As they showed me some of the features of the camera bags, I spent most of my time commentating with words like ‘cool’ and ‘oh, wow’.

Clik Elite bags are designed first and foremost for active photographers.  If you just need to tote cameras and lenses from your typical point ‘A’ to your typical point ‘B’, then the Clik Elite gear is going to be way overkill for you.  However, if point ‘A’ happens to be at the top of a snow-covered mountain, you have skis on your feet, and you intend to reach point ‘B’ at the bottom of the mountain via those skis, then you’ll probably dig these bags. Joby Gorillabike (and Some Useful Photo Stuff)

March 14, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Perhaps one of the funniest things I saw at PMA 2010, was Joby’s homegrown bike, which looks like it resulted from Lance Armstrong crashing into the Gorillapod factory.  While Gorillapods are pretty sturdy for cameras, I don’t think we’ll see Lance pedaling this bike up the Col du Tourmalet in the Tour de France this year.  Nonetheless, this is one cool bike.
