Switronix Announces New Power Cable For Canon DSLRs
Switronix has unveiled a new power cable for Canon DSLRs using the LP-E6 battery type (currently, the 5D Mark II, 7D and 60D).
The XP-DV-CH features a regulated 7.9v battery paddle (LP-E6 type) and an inline female p-tap connector for 12vdc, housed in an enclosure. It also includes both red and green LED indication to display battery power status. The cable can be used in association with a Switronix accessory or used solo with a PRO-X series lithium-ion battery product.

Ikan Elements Starter Fly Kit Review
The Ikan Elements Starter Fly Kit is a compact and affordable (around $100) HDSLR rig. While this kit is basic, it is surprisingly effective and will deliver enough performance for many HDSLR users who want to get some more stability out of their handheld work.

Redrock Micro and Switronix Team Up for HDSLR Powered Rigs
Switronix and Redrock Micro have teamed up to deliver customized HDSLR rigs that take advantage of Switronix’s battery systems and Redrock Micro’s supports. The Switronix powered rigs offer up to 6-times the runtime of standard DSLR batteries and can also be used to power on-board electronics like external LCD monitors. Switronix offers battery connection cables for the Canon 5D MKII, Canon 7D, Canon 60D, Canon T2i, and Panasonic AG-AF100.

Canon 60D version 1.0.8 – “Fixes a phenomenon in which captured images may become overexposed when using the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite in combination with the lenses listed below…” [Canon Website]
Fuji FinePix F300EXR version 1.01 – “Unstable volume level during movie recording is fixed.” [Fuji Website]
Nikon Coolpix P7000 version 1.1 – “Image recording time at image quality settings that include NRW (RAW) has been reduced. Lens control has been optimized to reduce the frequency with which the “Initializing lens. Cannot focus.” message is displayed. An issue that, in some rare cases, prevented zoom operation has been resolved. An issue that caused the monitor display to exhibit a loss of detail in highlights (blown highlights) when the shutter-release button was pressed halfway with Active D-Lighting enabled has been resolved.” [Nikon Website]
Apple Adds Additional RAW Support in Mac OS X 10.6.5
Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.5 update has added system-wide support (including Aperture and iPhoto) for a number of new RAW formats captured by the following cameras:
- Canon EOS 60D
- Canon PowerShot S95
- Hasselblad H4D-40
- Nikon D3100
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
- Sony DSLR-A290
- Sony DSLR-A560
- Sony DSLR-A580
- Sony SLT-A33
- Sony SLT-A55
The update is available via systems updates in Mac OS X 10.6.
Canon 60D In Stock at B&H
