Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 Release Candidates Available

Adobe Lightroom 3.6

Adobe has made release candidates of Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 available for download in Adobe Labs.  These versions add RAW file support for the following cameras:

  • Canon PowerShot S100
  • Nikon 1 J1
  • Nikon 1 V1
  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1
  • Samsung NX5

A number of new lens profiles have also been added, along with several bug fixes.  Additional release notes are indicated on the respective download pages for each product. [Read more…]

Topaz B&W Effects Plug-in Released, Brief Hands-On Review

Topaz Labs’ latest plug-in, B&W Effects, is now available for Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture or Photoshop Elements.

B&W Effects is equipped with a number of presets that provide you with a solid starting point for generating a black and white image.  You can also create a black and white image using only the manual controls – or do something in between by tweaking the preset to your liking. [Read more…]

Lightroom 3.5 and Camera Raw 6.5 Release Candidates Available

Adobe has made release candidates of Lightroom 3.5 and Camera Raw 6.5 available for download in Adobe Labs.  These versions add RAW file support for the following cameras:

  • Fuji FinePix F600EXR
  • Olympus E-P3
  • Olympus E-PL3
  • Olympus E-PM1
  • Panasonic DMC-G3
  • Panasonic DMC-GF3
  • Phase One IQ140
  • Phase One IQ160
  • Phase One P40+
  • Phase One P65+
  • Sony Alpha NEX-C3
  • Sony SLT-A35

A number of new lens profiles have also been added, along with several bug fixes.  Additional release notes are indicated on the respective download pages for each product.

Remember, these are release candidates, which means they’ve been pretty well tested and Adobe thinks they are ready for full release; however, it’s recommended that you keep production work to prior versions until the official releases drop.  Expect those to come soon though.  Release candidates mean that the final versions are just around the corner.

Adobe Lightroom 3.4.1 and Camera Raw 6.4.1 Updates Available

Adobe has released an incremental update for Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw 6.  This update is geared toward a fix for a rare bug related to JPEG files from the HP PhotoSmart R607 digital camera.  Additional details about the bug are available on Adobe’s Lightroom Journal.

Is the Apple Store Blackballing Competitive Adobe Software?

I was in the Apple Store a few days ago and wanted to try out After Effects on the new Core i7 MacBook Pro; however, it was nowhere to be found.  I was almost certain that I’ve used After Effects on Macs in the Apple store before – but it wasn’t on a single computer there.
