Nikon Coolpix P7700 Firmware Update Version 1.1

Nikon has released a firmware update for the Coolpix P7700. Firmware version 1.1 includes the following improvements:

  • Display accuracy for the virtual horizon has been increased according to the direction in which the camera is pointed.
  • The interval between shots with uninterrupted shooting when Auto bracketing is set to Exposure bracketing has been reduced.
  • An issue that prevented shutter speeds slower than one second for the second and subsequent shots when shooting with Auto bracketing set to Exposure bracketing has been resolved.

$80 Battery Grip from Vello Now Available for the Nikon D600

The third-party Vello battery grip is now available for the Nikon D600 for only $79.95. Compare that to the $274 for the Nikon MB-D14 battery grip for the D600.

I previously tested the Vello grips for the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D, and found them to be solid performers – especially considering the price. Check out the Vello grip for the D600 here at B&H Photo.

Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 Now Available; Adds Support for 25 New Cameras

Adobe has released final versions of Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4, which are now available on Adobe.com.

Part of the update includes improved demosaic algorithm for better raw file support on cameras with X-Trans sensors – the X-Pro1, X100S, X-E1 and X20.

Nikon AF-S 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR Lens Shipping in China; Next Week in US

Evidence that Nikon’s new 800mm behemoth is shipping to customers in China appeared earlier this week on the Mobile01 forums, where a user posted images of his new $18,000 lens. This should serve as good news to US customers who have pre-ordered the super-telephoto lens, as B&H Photo currently lists it as expected to ship next week on April 4.
