HDRsoft Photomatix Light 1.0

HDRsoft has released a more affordable version of its popular Photomatix software.  The new version is called “Photomatix Light.”

Photomatix Light 1.0 is available for $39 via instant download from HDRsoft.com. Photomatix Pro will run you $99.

Apple Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.7

Apple has released the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update version 2.7 for OS X v. 10.5 Leopard and OS X v. 10.6 Snow Leopard.  The new update adds RAW support in OS X, Aperture 2 and iPhoto for the following cameras:

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Canon EOS 7D
Canon PowerShot G11
Nikon D3S
Nikon D300S
Nikon D3000

Nikon Capture NX2 v2.2.4 for Windows

Animoto Holiday Greeting Card Alternatives

They’ve got three variations of dynamic, animated holiday video greetings that can be easily shared online via email or website. In minutes, Animoto lets anyone create personalized videos – just upload your favorite photos and video clips, add personalized text, pick a song to match the mood, and Animoto takes care of the rest.

It’s not only a paperless, Earth-friendly way to send your holiday well wishes out, it’s also budget friendly – 30-second videos are free, full-length videos cost just $3, and an annual subscription is only $30; high-resolution downloads are just $5 and DVDs cost $20.

The above video took me about 10 minutes or so to make, which included importing photos from a SmugMug gallery (a very cool feature that’s integrated within Animoto).

Pentax K-x Firmware Update ver. 1.01

Pentax has issued a firmware update for the K-x DSLR.  The firmware update version 1.01 address the following issues:

  • Added three kinds of particular effect shooting function (Pre-set 1,2 and 3) on [Cross Processing].
  • Added assignment of Cross Processing function to the green button.
  • Improved accuracy of Battery Level Indicator under specific conditions and improved stability for general performance.

Nikon Capture NX 2.2.3 Update

Apple iPhoto 8.1.1 Update

Apple has updated iPhoto to the latest version 8.1.1.  Update notes from Apple:

The iPhoto 8.1.1 update addresses issues affecting face recognition performance and accuracy. It also resolves minor issues with book ordering and iPod touch support. This update is recommended for all users of iPhoto ’09.
