Nikon Shoots D5100 Commercial with a D5100

We are excited acclaimed Director of Photography Matthew Libatique shot our “Man of Action” D-SLR spot with the Nikon D5100. All elements of this DSLR campaign were shot with the Nikon D5100 demonstrating its high quality photo and HD movie capabilities. -Lisa Baxt, senior communications manager for Nikon Inc.

Kudos to Nikon for stepping up to the plate and making a commercial with its own DSLR.  Perhaps other companies should consider doing the same.

Fundamentals of Shooting Stars

Ever try to get a cool shot of the night sky and failed miserably?  If so, this video from Ben Canales is worth a watch.

I’ve never tried to capture these types of shots, but Ben sure makes enticing.  Of course, I’m not a real fan of cold weather (apparently, when the sky is the clearest).

Detained for “Photography” by Maryland Transit Police

Train fanatic Christopher Fussell was shooting photos and video of Baltimore’s light rail train when he was stopped and detained by Maryland Transit Police.  The police insisted that it was illegal to take photos and video of the transit system telling him that he “need[s] to cease and desist with the photographing and continue on your way.” [Read more…]
