Manfrotto recently introduced a new line of pro photo apparel for women.  The Lino Apparel Collection includes four items that are specially designed for the female shape: Pro Field Jacket, Pro Photo Vest, Pro Soft Shell Jacket and Pro Air Jacket. DxO Optics Pro 7.5 Now Available

DxO Optics Pro 7.5

DxO Optics Pro 7.5 is now available and includes a number of improvements and supported cameras.  Version 7.5 is now fully 64-bit compatible and touts faster processing and start-up times.  Additionally, more than 200 new optics modules are included and the Nikon D800 is supported in the Elite edition.

DxO Optics Pro 7.5 is available at a 30% discount through the end of June.

Facebook Launches Its Own Camera App

A wee bit over a month since Facebook announced its plans to acquire Instagram for a cool billion, Facebook has launched its own camera app for the iPhone.  The new camera is aptly called Facebook Camera.

On the plus side, it seems rather quick and offers access to Facebook photo feeds if you are interested in only checking out the latest images from your friends.  It also includes a set of filters that will remind you of Instagram filter effects.   [Read more…]

WD My Passport Studio 2TB Portable Hard Drive Review

The latest bus-powered compact drives are available in capacities up to 2TB.  If there’s one thing that photo and video shooters can’t get enough of, it’s storage space for the growing file sizes we’re dealing with.

The new Western Digital My Passport Studio drives for Mac users sleek and compact (particularly when you consider we’re getting 2TB of storage).  WD recently sent me a pair of the new drives to try out.  The drive’s external shell is mix of silver and black aluminum, which goes along nicely with the current MacBook motif.

As with with recent iterations of Western Digital’s FireWire 800 drives, the new My Passport Studio drives sport dual FW800 ports, allowing you to daisy chain multiple devices and only use a single port on your computer. [Read more…]

Aperture 3.2.4 Update

Aperture 3.2.4 Update

Apple has updated Aperture 3 to version 3.2.2, which provides the following fixes:

  • Improves stability on Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
  • Addresses an issue that could prevent the Viewer from updating correctly after editing a photo using an external editor.

Nikon D600 Specs Update

Nikon Rumors has posted an update list of specifications for the rumored-to-be-coming-soon, full frame Nikon D600.  Notably, Nikon Rumors seems rather confident that the previously rumored absence of an AF motor is not true and that the D600 will, indeed, feature a built-in AF motor for legacy Nikon AF lenses.

Olympus 75mm f/1.8 Micro Four Thirds Lens Announced

Olympus 75mm f/1.8 Lens

Olympus has unveiled a new M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm f/1.8 Micro Four Thirds lens.  Due to the 2x crop factor, the new lens provides 150mm equivalent field of view, which makes for a long portrait lens or a niche low-light event or sports lens.

The Olympus 75mm f/1.8 lens retails for $899.99 and should be available later in Summer 2012.  Check availability at B&H Photo.
