ProAm USA Launches HDSLR-Oriented Taurus Jr. Jib

ProAm USA has launched an affordable jib for HDSLR and smaller cinema cameras – the Taurus Jr. It features an auto-leveling design that features a tilt brake and a built-in bearing base so you don’t need a tripod head to pan the jib. Blackmagic Production Camera 4K Starting to Ship at Lower Price

For all the waiting Blackmagic has forced with its Production Camera 4K model, the camera is finally starting to ship. And perhaps its worth the wait, as the camera now retails for $2995, instead of the previously announced $3995 price tag. While not all retailers have updated the price on their listings yet, Blackmagic Design confirms that those who pre-ordered the camera at $3995 will get it at the new $2995 price.

Expect the pre-orders to be filled in the coming days and new orders shipping thereafter.

Mac Pro Features User-Upgradeable CPU and RAM

Macs aren’t always the easiest to deal with for upgrading internal components. The new iMacs are locked down to only RAM upgrades and the Macbook Pro Retina models have zero internal upgradeable parts. So, when Apple announced its trashcan-looking Mac Pro, most of us figured that would be the end of upgrading components inside the Mac Pro as well. As it turns out, it’s not as bad as we feared. Pixelmator Adds 16-Bit Color and Mac Pro GPU and Multi-core Support

The affordable image editing program Pixelmator recently received an update to version 3.1 with several enhancements geared toward the new Mac Pro.

Notable updates for the new Mac Pro include dual GPU support, 16-bit support, background autosave and multicore optimization for up to 12-core processing. Additionally, Pixelmator 3.1 allows you to order prints from within the program using MILK Print on Demand.

You can find the complete list of updates here on Pixelmator’s website. Pixelmator runs $29.99 and is available in the Mac App Store.

New Pentax 645D Coming Spring 2014

Canon PowerShot G1 X Successor Leaks Out, Shows Detachable EVF

The upcoming replacement for the PowerShot G1 X has leaked out a few days before release. The camera is rumored to have a slimmer body and lighter weight, as well as an external EVF. Most notable, the lens is expected to be improved to a 24-120mm f/2-3.9 lens (compared to the f/2.8-5.8 lens on the original G1 X).

Additionally, the G1 X successor should be equipped with a DIGIC 6 processor and cost around $700 USD.
