Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM

Sigma has announced a new superzoom lens for Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Pentax and Sony DSLRs. The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM features new FLD low dispersion glass elements and SLD (special low dispersion) glass elements, which should improve the overall image quality, as well as correcting chromatic aberration.
The is the second version of this lens. As a quick refreshers, the “DC” means that it is made for APS-C (aka “cropped”) sensors and not full frame DSLRs. [Read more…]
JVC GC-PX10 Officially Announced for US Availability
The JVC GC-PX10 is officially slated for release this month in the US. The PX10 is very similar to the PX1 we saw earlier this year at CES 2011.
The GC-PX10 features a 12.75MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor and captures 1080/60p video at a 36Mbps sample rate. The 10x zoom lens covers an equivalent focal range of 43.3-433mm when shooting video and 37.4-374mm when shoots stills. [Read more…]

It’s something to think about all the ways Apple products are woven into photographers’ daily lives. Sure, we could all get by without a MacBook, Mac Pro, iMac, iPad, iPhone, iPod, Hipstamatic, Aperture, Final Cut, iMovie, iPhoto or any of the other numerous Apple products or apps on those products we use every day. However, it wouldn’t be near as fun.
One of the better articles I read today was Walt Mossberg’s over at All Things D. Chase Jarvis also has a funny story with a little food for thought.
