MacPhun has released FX Photo Studio HD 4.0 for the iPad. The new version includes over 190 effects and filters, along with a new masking feature that allows application of effects and filters to only portions of an image. Version 4.0 also allows users to import photos from Facebook for additional editing.
FX Photo Studio HD 4.0 for the iPad retails for $2.99 in the App Store; however, it is available for a limited time for only $1.99.

You learn something new everyday… At least I did when I watched the above video on Photoshop CS5‘s sharpen tool that allows you to paint-in sharpening. I’ve used layer masks for similar results, but I’m definitely going to be trying this tip out.

ACD Systems launched ACDSee Pro 5 and ACDSee 14 today, priced at $239.99 and $79.99, respectively. Both products offer several new features and improvements.
ACDSee Pro 5 adds a new “user-controlled edge detection mask slider lets you focus the sharpening effect more to edges and textures than non-textured areas.” Additional new features include split-toning, enhanced dodge and burn controls, and metadata removal, among others.
ACDSee 14 adds map view and geotagging support, news special effects presets, and cloud storage and sharing options.
