Sony NEX E-Mount 18-200mm Lens Pricing and Availability

August 12, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Sony Japan has announced that the NEX E-Mount 18-200mm lens (which is packaged with the Sony NEX-VG10) will be available in September 2010 for 99750 yen for other NEX-format cameras; however, US pricing should be in the neighborhood of $800-900 as a best guess.

No word yet on availability stateside, or official US pricing for that matter.  It’s a good sign that we’ll see the E-Mount 18-200mm lens on NEX-3 and NEX-5 cameras soon though.

Pentax K-x Gets Pink, Olive, Beige and Chocolate Color Treatments

August 12, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The very popular (and colorful) Pentax K-x has received another series of color treatment updates, and is now available in pink, chocolate, olive and beige.

You can see the entire lineup of the K-x rainbow at the Pentax US webstore ($650 for body and lens).

Although, if you can live with black, you can get the K-x with lens for under $500 now.

PluralEyes Review

August 12, 2010 By Eric Reagan

This is for all of you guys out there trying your hand at working with DSLR video.

If you’ve tried working with multiple video and audio tracks in a non-linear editor, then you know what a challenge that it can be to sync up the audio wave forms among different tracks.  It’s not necessarily hard to do manually, but it can be tedious and time consuming when you start piling on cameras and audio-recording sources.

Enter Singular Software’s PluralEyes.

Canon 60D Revealed?

August 11, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Is this the new Canon 60D?  It sure seems like a good candidate.  It also comports with previous rumors that suggested a tilting LCD – although this camera appears to have a vari-angle (i.e., tilt/swivel LCD) that flips out from the body.  This would add more credence to the rumored “optimized for video” design that we’ve previously heard about.  Although the aging 50D is definitely due for a replacement, I’m anxious to see the final specs and how/if the 60D will cannibalize the sales of the Canon 7D.

Fire away with your thoughts in the comments below.

More Rumored Canon 60D Specs

August 10, 2010 By Eric Reagan

More Canon 60D specs have trickled out of the rumor mill.  Canon Rumors received a tip regarding a closed-doors presentation of a pre-production 60D, which included an 18MP sensor (as found in the Canon 7D and Rebel T2i), a tilt display on the rear, and an overall “video optimized” theme to the new DSLR.

Of course, there’s no hard confirmation, but CR says that this source(s) has produced reliable info in the past.  Hopefully, we’ll know more soon.

Canon 7D vs. Barbie Video Girl

August 9, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Canon 7D Barbie Video Girl

This humorous comparison between the Canon 7D and Barbie Video Girl is from Brandon Bloch.

“The $1,800 Canon 7D versus the brand new $50 Barbie Video Girl… available in the girlie aisle of your local Toys R Us. It’s the sassiest camera money can buy.”

Nice work Brandon.
