DxO Labs has announced DxO Perspective for Mac OS X, which is an application designed to correct perspective and horizon problems. The application is available here in the Mac App Store and is free through November 3, 2013. Otherwise, it retails for $19.99.

DxO Optics Pro v8.3.2 Adds Support for Canon 70D and Sony RX1R

DxO Labs has updated DxO Optics Pro 8 to version 8.3.2, which adds support for Canon 70D and Sony RX1R files. Additionally, DxO Optics Pro 8.3.2 adds several new DxO Optics Modules for 445 new camera/lens combinations in its library.

This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO Optics Pro 8, as well as for all photographers who acquired a DxO Optics Pro 7 license on or after September 1, 2012.

Google+ Goes RAW; Better Conversion Now Supports Over 70 Cameras . . . Look Out Adobe!

Google+ added improved RAW file to JPEG conversion for over 70 cameras (including new cameras like the Nikon D800 and Nikon 1 J3). Additionally, you can always access your RAW files from the cloud if you need the original on a local drive.

I think this is a big, dang deal. While everyone is stirring for an Adobe competitor to come out of the woodwork with a perpetual license alternative to Photoshop, Google is quietly sneaking up with its acquisition of Nik and just continues to nudge out releases of photo editing, archive and sharing support via Google+. Corel Releases 64-bit PaintShop Pro X6

Corel recently updated PaintShop Pro with a 64-bit version. PaintShop Pro X6 now supports 64-bit processing and is proudly available from Corel as a perpetual license application, as communicated in Corel’s press release and in correspondence from Corel’s PR department (take that as a direct shot at Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription-only licensing).

Twixtor v6 Released with GPU Acceleration for After Effects, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro

The popular slow-motion plug-in, Twixtor, has been updated to version 6, and now includes GPU acceleration for After Effects, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro (7 or X). The update provides speeds up to 5x faster than with the CPU-only.

Adobe users need CS5 or later for PP or AE, while FCP users need FCP 7 or FCP X 10.0.8 or higher. Additional GPU and system requirements can be found here on RE:Vision Effects’ website.

Twixtor Pro v6 runs $595, while the standard version is $329.95. Upgrades for Twixtor standard are $82.49 and Twixtor Pro are $149.95. More details here on Twixtor’s pricing page.
