Benro A38T Classic Aluminum Monopod

So I recently purchased the Benro A38T Classic Aluminum Monopod with the S2 head and the fine folks at Photography Bay here were kind enough to let me talk about it.

This monopod is AMAZING, and for the low price tag of $140, I highly recommend that you can hop on over to B&H Photo or Adorama and pick up one of your own. [Read more…]

Blackmagic Cinema Camera Supplies are Picking Up

July 1, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Blackmagic Cinema Camera

The Blackmagic Cinema Camera was plagued throughout its initial launch window with a sensor manufacturing problem that was well documented and openly addressed by Blackmagic Design. It was the a rather tragic issue for the company’s first camera launch.

Speaking with Blackmagic reps at NAB 2013, I was assured that the problem had been addressed the company was filling the backlog of pre-orders as fast as it possibly could, and that we should begin seeing the supply line catch up with demand.

We are pretty much there now. [Read more…]

Faux Slider Shots with just a Tripod

June 16, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Here’s a great little trick for getting some motion in your video shots even if you don’t have a slider or a jib. I’ve used a tripod tilted up on two legs quite a bit for cheating dolly-in and dolly-out shots, but the Fenchel & Janisch folks take it a step further with movements along other axes for some cool jib-esque shots. The suggestion of shooting a higher frame rate to smooth out any imperfections in the camera movement when conformed to a lower frame rate is good as well.

June 15, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Zoom H6 Recorder

The Zoom H4n has been a staple of the HDSLR dual-system audio realm since the introduction of the 5D Mark II. Over the past few years though, the market has somewhat left the H4n behind with units like the Tascam DR-100mkII and Olympus LS-100 delivering better controls and a lower noise floor. [Read more…]
