Sony RX100 IV at 1000fps

August 3, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Sony RX100 IV

The new Sony RX100 IV is a pretty amazing little camera. I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet but I’m really looking forward to it. A couple of the coolest features in my book are the 4K video capture and the HD slow motion at up to 1000 fps.

Check out this video captured handheld at 1000fps. [Read more…]

Canon-5D-Mark-X-Rumors

New rumors about the upcoming Canon 5D X have surfaced over at the DP Review forums. The rumors claim that the Canon 5D X will feature a single DIGIC 7 quad core processor, while the upcoming 1D X Mark II will have two DIGIC 7 processors and one DIGIC 6 processor (perhaps the DIGIC 6 processor will be used for AF processing?). Canon 1D X Gets a $700 Price Drop

August 2, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Canon 1D X

The Canon 1D X just got a $700 price drop and is now available for $4,599 including current rebates. (It was $5,299 yesterday with $700 instant rebates.)

The 1D X saw an $800 price drop in February 2015, which dropped it from $6,799 to $5,999. That’s a total of $1,500 price drop this year and, including the current instant rebate, drops it $2,200 from its original retail price. So, yeah, something is probably coming as a replacement soon…

How to Get Good Audio for Periscope

August 1, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Rode-SmartLav-for-Periscope

If you haven’t heard of Periscope, it’s the latest social media product from Twitter that allows you to live stream video from your iPhone or Android smartphone.

One of the difficulties however is capturing good audio for your viewers since it is captured on something like the iPhone. Now, the iPhone does okay in for delivering audio to Periscope when you are in a quiet setting . . . but add some ambient noise and the experience is less than ideal.  [Read more…]

How to Remove a Tattoo in Photoshop

August 1, 2015 By Eric Reagan

In this video from Aaron Nace at Phlearn, you’ll see how you can use Photoshop to remove tattoos from your subjects.

He covers three main sections in the process, which are the basic removal, then painting the skin back in to remove the odd, blotchy look from the removal and, finally, he shows us how to add skin texture back to the tattoo removal area.

Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art Lens Now In Stock for Canon EF

July 30, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Sigma 24-35mm F2 Art Lens

B&H has the new Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art lens in stock and now shipping for Canon EF mount. The Nikon version should be in stock soon.

The new 24-35mm zoom is the second large aperture zoom lens Sigma has launched recently. It follows the impressive Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens for APS-C cameras and is the first time we’ve seen an f/2 zoom for a full frame DSLR.

Sigma claims that optical performance of the new zoom lens is comparable to Sigma’s 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art and 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lenses. As such, Sigma suggests that it can replace 24mm, 28mm and 35mm prime lenses in your camera bag with this single zoom lens.

Check it out here at B&H Photo.
