Canon Rebel T6s Hands-On Review

June 15, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Canon Rebel T6s

I got my hands on the new Canon Rebel T6s and have had it out a time or two now for some casual photography. My early thoughts on this camera is that it is a fantastic option for the budget-enthusiast and aspiring vacation photographer.

The resolution of the Rebel T6s is great at 24.2MP but that really isn’t something you notice anymore. It looks like noise-control has improved again and you are going to get good low light images with the kit lens thanks to the sensitivity of the new sensor. [Read more…]

Watch a Kayaker Tackle Big Waterfalls with GoPro Cameras Everywhere

June 13, 2015 By Eric Reagan

GoPro Athlete Dane Jackson ventures to a kayaker’s paradise in Veracruz, Mexico to chase some of the most challenging waterfalls in the world.

I like the smart edits that use the underwater impacts to change to the various GoPro HERO4 cameras on Jackson and his kayak as the short video builds to its climax. Solid pacing for a 2-minute YouTube video.

Sony’s A7R II Works with Atomos Shogun for 4K ProRes Video Capture

June 11, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Sony-A7R-II-Atomos-Shogun-4K

While Canon is busy locking down its video product line with no 4K options in its DSLRs and spotty support for clean HDMI-output, Sony is throwing the kitchen sink into its cameras with each release cycle.

The latest evidence of Sony’s bold digital imaging market moves is in the new A7R II, which sports a 42.4MP full frame image sensor with internal 4K video capture using the Sony XAVC-S codec at 100Mbps. While this is solid performance for a camera as small as the A7R II, Sony leaves room for users to go a little more professional by enabling uncompressed HDMI output of the sensor’s 4K signal. A Better Kind of Selfie Stick: “Friend”

June 11, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Someone asked me earlier this week which selfie stick I recommended. I had no answer. Other than shooting action sports with a GoPro, it is a phenomenon that is beyond me. Perhaps I am getting old, but this funny spoof on selfie sticks from College Humor sums up my thoughts quite well.
