Creative Flash Photography is a new book from photographer Tilo Gockel.

This book “shows you how to make magic by mastering the use of light. You will learn how to use speedlights to create amazing photographs in any lighting situation. Tilo uses 40 lighting workshops to teach his methods for producing impressive flash shots in portrait, fashion, macro, food, still life, and high-speed photography.”

Creative Flash Photography retails for $44.95; however, it is currently available for $31.32 on Amazon.com.

It is also available as a Kindle edition for $19.99 here on Amazon.com.

 

Canon 6D Available in New Kit Option

Canon 6D with 24-105mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

Amid the recent announcements of Canon’s new point and shoot cameras in early January, I missed that Canon also made the 6D available in a kit with the new-ish EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The new kit runs $2199 and should be available in early February. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

This new kit option makes a lot of sense and I think most of us saw this one coming when Canon announced the lower-tier 24-105mm STM lens earlier in 2014. I’m not sure why Canon didn’t start offering it from day one. Perhaps they wanted to clear out some stock with the 24-105mm L kit lens before packaging the new lens with it.

The 6D remains available with the pricier 24-105mm f/4L lens as well for $2399. And that kit is actually on sale through January 31 for $2099 after a $300 mail-in rebate.

Fuji Announces New XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens

Fuji XF 16-55mm f2.8 R LM WR Lens

A couple weeks back at CES 2015, Fuji unveiled it a new X-Series lens – the Fuji XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR. It provides an equivalent field of view to a 24-84mm lens on a full frame camera, which sounds pretty great at f/2.8 all the way through.

It’s a weather-sealed lens with 14 sealing points and dust-proof design. It’s made to pair nicely with the weather-sealed Fuji X-T1. [Read more…]

Panasonic GF7 Leaks Out

Here is the first image of the upcoming Panasonic GF7 that leaked out on Digicame-info. The new camera is the successor the Panasonic GF6 and is believed to sport a 16MP sensor, ISO 200-25,600 sensitivity and a 180º tilting LCD.

That’s the 12-32mm lens on the front that ships as a kit lens for the GM1 and GM5, which suggests that this camera will be very compact. Below is a photo of the GM1 next to the Canon G12 compact camera for sense of scale.  [Read more…]
