Canon EF 100-400mm IS Replacement Coming in November?

New rumors from Canon Rumors suggest that Canon will release a replacement to the aging EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS lens next month.

The new 100-400mm lens is rumored to be similar in design to the recent EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS lens, which offers a thinner focus ring near the base and a wider zoom ring near the front of the lens.

Additionally, the lens hood is rumored to feature a retractable opening that will allow you to adjust your circular polarizer or fader ND filter while keeping the lens hood on the lens.

The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 lens is available for pre-order in both EF and PL mount options. It will only set you back $70,200 with free shipping, of course. That’s nearly $8k below the announced retail price.

Nikon Coolpix A Gets a Big Price Drop

Nikon’s compact DX-format camera, the Coolpix A, finally got a much needed price drop from north of $1000 down to $699.

The Coolpix A was an impressive little camera from the start – with its 18.5mm f/2.8 lens (28mm equivalent) and a 16.2MP APS-C sensor. The price was just eye-rolling high at $1100. At $699, I can definitely see this camera getting a lot more action. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

While the base model is only $2494, I think the one to get is probably the 4GHz Core i7 with 4GB VRAM and only 8GB RAM for $2999.
