I wish Adobe would just go ahead and make this a permanent deal, but for now the Photoshop Photography Program, which includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5, for $9.99/mo has been extended through May 31, 2014.
There are no limitations for prior software ownership to join at this rate (as there have been in the past). You can sign up for the Photoshop Photography Program here on Adobe’s website.
(At the time of this post, Adobe’s site still has the offer end date as March 31; however, I have official confirmation from Adobe that the deal is extended through May 31.)

Every year someone, somewhere gets me with an April Fools Day prank. As a result, I try not to post any news or rumors that don’t come from official sources.
Of course, some of the ideas out there are pretty funny even if they do pull one over on me. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day as new pranks roll in. If you see a good one, be sure to let me know about it. [Read more…]

The Canon Powershot G16 is rumored to get a refresh in May 2014, which is a rather short life for a camera just announced in August 2013. That said, the G16 was a minor upgrade to the G15.
If an upgrade for the G16 is coming this quickly, it should be something significant. And, if there is truth to the rumored specs, it will be. Check them out below. [Read more…]

Have you ever tried shooting product images isolated on white backgrounds? Building a set from scratch can be challenging, and unless you nail everything just right, it can be quite frustrating. Minor exposure imperfections can lead to a ton of time in Photoshop trying to correct your failures.

Canon announced last week that it has manufactured 250 million digital cameras since it first introduced the EOS DCS 3 to the market in 1995.
Notably though, it didn’t pass the 100 million unit mark until 2008 – back when the 40D and Rebel XSi were hot stuff, and just as the 5D Mark II was introduced. In 5 short years, Canon broke the 200 million unit mark in December 2013. Just over a month later, on January 31, 2014, Canon hit the 250 million threshold thanks to an introduction of several new compact cameras like the PowerShot G1 X Mark II and PowerShot N100. Canon also points out that 50 million of those digital cameras are interchangeable lens cameras, which would encompass EOS DSLRs, mirrorless and cinema cameras.
Canon has since introduced the Rebel T5 and we expect at least a couple more DSLRs this year, along with several more point and shoot cameras.

The new lens completes a broad range for the CZ.2 line, which is also the only full frame zoom cine-style lenses in the world. (Canon’s EOS Cinema zoom lenses only cover an APS-C sensor.) [Read more…]
