The Memoto camera is a new, wearable 5MP camera that is roughly the size of a post stamp and is designed to capture an image every 30 seconds. It packs in GPS and an accelerometer, which appropriately orients the images depending on just how you wear the camera. One you connect the camera to your computer, it uploads the images to Memoto’s servers and organizes them for your search and browsing access via iOS/Android apps or a web browser.
The Memoto camera will retail for $279 when it finally hits store shelves next year. [Read more…]

B&H has dropped the prices on the Canon 5D Mark III and Mark II models.
The 5D Mark III is priced at $3199 now (down from $3459).
The 5D mark II is priced at $1699 now (down from $1799).
It looks like Amazon and Adorama are also showing the same prices on the 5D Mark III, which means this comes from Canon and makes me wonder if Canon is feeling the pressure from Nikon and not moving as many of the higher-priced 5D Mark IIIs in comparison to Nikon’s D800 (which is still cheaper, BTW).
At $1699, the 5D Mark II is the cheapest full frame camera by a long shot over the new, “affordable” Canon 6D and Nikon D600. And, despite its age, is still a very solid camera.

The Nikon 1 V2 is the latest in the 1 Series mirrorless system and it brings improved ergonomics, a new built-in flash and command mode dial to the table. The Nikon 1 V2 features a 14.2MP CX format sensor and captures 1080p HD video.
The V2 should be available in November 2012 for $899.95 with the included 10-30mm VR lens. You can find the V2 here at B&H Photo.
Alongside the V2, Nikon also introduced the SB-N7, a new i-TTL speedlight that is designed for connection on the V2’s hot shoe. The flash head tilts up to 120 degrees and provides guide number of 18 meters/59 feet at ISO 100. The SB-N7 is powered by AAA batteries and should be available in January 2013 for $159.95.

Canon just announced a powerful firmware update for the 5D Mark III. The new firmware, due April 2013, will provide uncompressed HDMI output for 4:2:2 8-bit video capture via an external recorder.
Additionally, the 5D Mark III will gain the ability to autofocus at f/8 when equipped with Canon teleconverters (akin to the recent firmware update of the Canon 1D X).
A bit ironic that Canon announced this right after the new Magic Lantern firmware update that unlocks HDMI-out for the 5D Mark III, no?
