Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.6.1

Adobe has updated Lightroom 2 to version 2.6.1 and is specifically directed to Leica M9 users.

The Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 2.6.1 update includes one important correction that is only relevant for Leica M9 users. This release of Lightroom fixes a bug that caused Lightroom 2.6 to crash when processing certain M9 images. The bug was introduced in the final version of Lightroom 2.6 in the course of making image quality improvements to Leica M9 processing based on customer feedback. There is no need to update to 2.6.1 if you aren’t a Leica M9 user. – Adobe.com

Canon 1D Mark IV Firmware Update Version 1.0.6

Canon 1D Mark IV

Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS 1D Mark IV.  The firmware upgrade includes the following:

  1. Firmware Version 1.0.6 enhances the AF tracking performance.*
  2. *AF performance has been enhances for receding subjects and for subjects that are approaching at a low speed.

The firmware can be downloaded from Canon’s website.

Apple iPad, Photos and Camera Connectivity

The Apple iPad is a newly-announced tablet device that comes down somewhere in between an iPhone and a netbook in terms of its features and interface.  There is plenty of buzz, both love and hate, for the new device.

One of the features that may attract some photographers is a built-in app called Photos.  Bear in mind though that the iPad does not offer a built-in camera, oddly enough.  However, the app for organizing, importing and sharing photos is worth a look on its own merit. [Read more…]

Corel has announced the latest version of its PaintShop software for digital image post-processing.  PaintShop Photo Pro features a new organizer for rating and tagging photos, as well as RAW image conversion, along with a number of other features.  The new software retails for $100. Nikon ViewNX and Transfer Software Updated

Nikon has updated ViewNX to version 1.5.2 and Nikon Transfer to version 1.5.2 for Mac and version 1.5.3 for Windows.

Several compatibility issues for Mac OS X version 10.6.2 and Windows 7 have been added, as well as other updates and bug fixes.
