B&H has the Metabones Canon EF Lens to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Speed Booster in stock with free expedited shipping. This speed booster reduces the crop factor of Canon lenses from 3.02x to 1.75x on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Additionally, the speed booster effectively increases the brightness of a lens by 1 2/3 stops, which means a f/1.2 lens becomes a f/0.74 lens. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Blackmagic Camera Update 1.8
Back in April during NAB, we got an update on the development of firmware for Blackmagic Design’s cameras. Specific concerns had been raised about whether or not Blackmagic would continue to support the original Cinema Camera since the company was putting out several new cameras.
Today, Blackmagic made good on its promises and addressed the four big issues that we were told sat at the top of the development list, and then delivered several more updates. Blackmagic has written completely new code for all of its Cinema Cameras and built the user interface around the Blackmagic URSA we saw unveiled at NAB 2014.
Below is an overview of the updates to the Blackmagic Cinema Cameras: [Read more…]

Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera Firmware Update News
With all of the recent camera additions from Blackmagic, some users of the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera have expressed concern over the lack of firmware updates for the cameras and wondering whether Blackmagic will be supporting these cameras going forward.
Blackmagic’s own Kristian Lam took the official Blackmagic forums to address these concerns. Check out Blackmagic’s update on the firmware issues for these cameras below. [Read more…]
DaVinci Resolve 11 is What FCP X Should Have Been
Just a few years ago, DaVinci Resolve was a boutique, all-in-one hardware/software solution for colorists that was a six-figure product. The price currently stands at $30k; however, Blackmagic began offering DaVinci Resolve for Mac in 2010 for $995, which was a huge deal at the time. The price still stands at $995 for the full version; however, Blackmagic also offers a Resolve Lite version for free. The $995 full version is also included for free with the $1995 Blackmagic Cinema Camera and higher level cameras.
In DaVinci Resolve 10, we got a timeline for making some basic editing functions when we import a XML from a supported NLE. Again, it was a huge move that further extended the value of Resolve.
Blackmagic announced DaVinci Resolve 11 at NAB 2014 and they have stepped up the game even further. Now, you can start and finish your editing project in Resolve 11 with no need open another NLE.
That’s right; Blackmagic just jumped head-first into the NLE market. [Read more…]

Blackmagic Production Camera 4K Starting to Ship at Lower Price
For all the waiting Blackmagic has forced with its Production Camera 4K model, the camera is finally starting to ship. And perhaps its worth the wait, as the camera now retails for $2995, instead of the previously announced $3995 price tag. While not all retailers have updated the price on their listings yet, Blackmagic Design confirms that those who pre-ordered the camera at $3995 will get it at the new $2995 price.
Expect the pre-orders to be filled in the coming days and new orders shipping thereafter.
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Gets RAW Recording Update
Blackmagic Design has released Blackmagic Camera 1.5 software for the Pocket Cinema Camera, which adds new 12-bit Log CinemaDNG RAW recording to the Pocket Cinema Camera, so users can now capture super wide dynamic range in a single file. This feature was promised when the camera was announced back at NAB 2013. You can find the update here on Blackmagic Design’s website.
Here’s some sample footage.
