Adobe Camera Raw 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2 Now Available
Along with the release of Lightroom 5.2, Adobe also released Adobe Camera Raw 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2.
Camera Raw 8.2 is made available to Photoshop CC and CS6 users, while Adobe had released DNG Converter 8.2 for customers using versions older than Photoshop CS6.
While Camera Raw 8.2 provides several new features, they are only available to Photoshop CC users. Those using Photoshop CS6, however, do get the new camera support provided in Camera Raw 8.2. [Read more…]
Apple Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.09 Adds Support for Olympus E-P5
Apple has issued an update to Digital Camera RAW to version 4.09, which adds RAW image compatibility for the Olympus E-P5 to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11.
It also includes changes that:
- Restore lens correction to Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 images
- Address a white balance issue with some Nikon images that were modified by third-party applications

Spot Removal Tool Shortcuts Inside Camera Raw 8
Julieanne Kost has posted a handy list of shortcut keys for the updated Spot Removal Tool inside Camera Raw 8, which is part of Photoshop CC.*
- Tap the “V” key to toggle the visibility of the spot overlays.
- Shift -drag constrains the brush spot to a horizontal or vertical stroke.
- Shift -click connects the selected spot with the new spot via a straight brush stroke.
- Command -drag (Mac) | Control -drag (Win) will create a circle spot and allow you to drag to define the source.
- Tap the Forward Slash key (/) to select new source for existing circle or brush spot.
- Press Delete to delete a selected spot.
- Option -click (Mac) | Alt -click (Win) on a spot to delete it (the cursor will change to a pair of scissors).
- Option -drag (Mac) | Alt -drag (Win) in the image area over multiple spots to batch-delete (the icon changes to a marquee while dragging.
- Tap the “Y” key to toggle on/off Visualize spots. Note – this is also available as a checkbox and slider in Toolbar.

Camera Raw 8.1 Release Candidate for Photoshop CS6 Now Available
Adobe just announced a release candidate for Camera Raw 8.1, which is now available in Adobe Labs. This is the first departure from Camera Raw 7.x for CS6 users. With the recent Adobe Photoshop CC changes taking place, CS6 customers will continue to get new updates for raw file support; however, the killer new features that are part of Camera Raw in Photoshop CC will not make it over to CS6 customers.
Camera Raw 8.1 includes support for HiDPI capable displays (e.g., MacBook Pro Retina) and offers support for the following cameras:
- Hasselblad H5D-60
- Olympus PEN E-P5
- Olympus PEN E-PL6
- Phase One IQ260*
- Ricoh GR
- Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G6
- Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LF1
* denotes preliminary support
Remember, this is a release candidate, which means it has been pretty well tested and Adobe thinks it is ready for full release; however, it’s recommended that you keep production work to prior versions until the official release drops. Expect that to come soon though. Release candidates mean that the final versions are just around the corner.

Additionally, the updates including corrections to the demosaic algorithms for Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans sensor (e.g., the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1).
