Canon 80D Coming Soon [Updated]

Canon 1D X Mark II is All About Speed and Serious 4K Video Chops
[Update: The Canon 1D X Mark II has been officially announced. You can pre-order it here at B&H Photo.]
We are within a day or so of the official announcement from Canon; however, the key aspects of the official press release we expect to see just surfaced from Canon Rumors. It confirms the previous spec list we had seen leaked from Japan and suggests that this camera is a worthy successor to the 1D X. It’s also notable that it comes in at $5,999, which is $800 less than the original 1D X launched at.
It features the previously-rumored 20.2MP full frame CMOS sensor that is “Canon-developed” (interesting wording). The standard sensitivity range is ISO 100-51,200 and can be expanded to ISO 50-409,600. For comparison sake, the Nikon D5‘s max native sensitivity is ISO 102,400 and the expanded sensitivity reaches up to ISO 3,280,000. [Read more…]

Canon is Working on a Full Frame Mirrorless Camera?
Not that the suggestion of Canon producing a full frame mirrorless camera is revolutionary; however, it is reassuring to hear that one may be in the pipeline. Canon 1D X Mark II to Feature 4K Video But No 4K on Canon 5D Mark IV?
New rumors from Canon Rumors point to an upcoming Canon 1D X replacement will feature 4K video capture. Unfortunately though, the same rumors say that the 1D X Mark II will be the only next-gen Canon DSLR to offer 4K video capture at launch.
Of course, that would mean that the oft-rumored 5D Mark IV wouldn’t feature 4K video as an option at launch. Does the “at launch” clarification mean that a firmware upgrade could unlock it later down the line?
We have to remember, of course, that these are rumors but I still want to bang my head on the desk at even the suggestion that the next generation of Canon DSLRs will continue to neuter their video capabilities.
Canon 80D Rumors Continue to Trickle Out
Canon has been pretty consistent with its line of cameras that include the most recent Canon EOS 70D. These cameras are a popular step up from the entry-level Rebel line. And now that the Rebel line has gotten more serious with the Rebel T6s, I would expect to see some more advanced features on the Canon EOS 80D, which is expected to arrive in 2016. [Read more…]
