Sony Image Sensor Size Comparison
Above is another one of the cool tech displays from Sony’s booth at CES. It shows the sensor size comparison for Sony cameras starting with a compact camera with a 1/2.3″ sensor on the right side and moving up to a full frame size sensor on the left side.
As many of you know, the full frame Sony 35mm sensor is found in the Sony A7 Series and the A99 SLT camera. The APS-C sensor is found in cameras like the Sony A6000 and A5100. Sony is using the CX Format nomenclature for 1″ sensors like what is found in the Sony RX100 and RX10.
Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Lens Released
Tamron has released its new SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD lens for Canon, Nikon and Sony A mounts. Note, however, that the Sony A-mount version does not include the VC motor for image stabilization.
The lens offers full frame coverage with XGM and LD glass elements in the front group to minimize chromatic aberrations, along with Tamron’s eBAND and BBAR coatings to reduce ghosting and flare. It has a 9-blade aperture and features a built-in lens hood.

Zeiss Loxia 50mm and 35mm Full Frame Lenses for Sony E-Mount Unveiled
Zeiss has launched a new line of lenses for the Sony full frame E-mount, which currently includes the A7, A7R and A7S models. The two lenses launching the Sony E-mount are the Zeiss Loxia 35mm f/2 Biogon T* and the Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 Planar T*, which are priced at $1299 and $949, respectively.
