Canon 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Dropped to $1,299… Is it still too much?

The Canon 24-70mm f/4L IS USM appears to have received another $100 price drop. It was originally selling for $1,499 until it received a $100 price drop earlier this month. Now, it is showing up for $1,299 here at B&H Photo.

I suspect that Canon has had a hard time moving these at $1,500 a pop when the long-time favorite EF 24-105mm f/4L IS zoom is available for $1,149 retail and they’re always available refurbished for under $1000. Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens Available for Pre-Order

Rokinon’s new 16mm f/4 ED AS UMC CS lens is now available for pre-order for $479 with expected availability on August 8. This lens is built for APS-C sensors. As such, the Canon EF-S version offers a field of view equivalent to 25.6mm on a full frame camera. While Nikon, Sony, Fuji X-Series and other APS-C cameras will get a 24mm equivalent field of view. Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Priced at $799, Available in July

Sigma’s new 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens (yes, a constant f/1.8 zoom) just got an official price point of $799 and it will start shipping next month. It is available for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Sigma DSLR mounts. You can pre-order the new lens with free shipping here at B&H Photo.

My thoughts are that this is perfect pricing for this lens, and I think Sigma is going to sell a ton at this price with the overly positive early reviews we’ve seen. Sigma is knocking it out of the park lately, and this is yet another home run.

New Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens Unveiled

Canon has released a new lens for the EOS M system. The Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens becomes the third lens in the EF-M series – accompanied by the 18-55mm standard zoom and 22mm f/2 lenses that were released alongside the original EOS M camera last summer (read our Canon EOS M review).

On the APS-C sensor of the EOS M, the new 11-22mm lens provides the full frame equivalent coverage of roughly 18-35mm. Of course, as you can tell from the lens name acronyms, it features built-in image stabilization (Canon cites 3-stop shutter speed advantage) and the new STM motor for quite operation during video capture.

The EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens has a .15m minimum focus distance and features a retractable lens design, along with a manual focus ring.
