Olympus E-PL1 for $274.99 – Deal Alert
Here’s a great bargain right now on the Olympus E-PL1 with a 14-42mm lens for $274.99 at Amazon, along with free shipping. When the E-PL1 was first introduced, it cost $600 for this kit. This is a steal of a deal.
This is likely a closeout of stock, so there’s no telling how long this will last. Note, you can also find a used, but good condition, stock of the E-PL1 at B&H for a few bucks less.
Sony Set to Launch an APS-C G1 X Competitor?
Sony Alpha Rumors is pegging a compact Sony APS-C camera that will go head-to-head with the Canon G1 X. Reportedly, the camera would use a pancake zoom lens to keep the size down.
I think Sony has a great thing going with the NEX line. So, I’m very interested to see what such a camera could add to Sony’s lineup. If anything, I think a fixed-lens camera seems more accessible to a larger market. Sigma 19mm & 30mm f/2.8 EX DN Lenses Hands-On
A couple of upcoming lenses that I’m looking forward to trying out are the Sigma 19mm and 30mm f/2.8 models for NEX and Micro Four Thirds cameras. I’m particularly looking forward to getting a production model of the 30mm f/2.8 lens in the NEX mount since it works out to a 45mm-equivalent (60mm-equivalent for Micro Four Thirds models). Olympus E-M5 Retro Micro Four Thirds Shooter Announced
The Olympus E-M5 is the new OM-D series camera that builds on 40-years of the Olympus OM SLR series, as well as the Micro Four Thirds success that Olympus has found in recent years.
The E-M5 features a 16.1MP Live MOS sensor, a built-in electronic viewfinder and max sensitivity to ISO 25,600. Additionally, the E-M5 will capture 1080i HD video.
The E-M5 should be available in April for $999 (body only), $1099 with a 14-42mm kit lens, or $1299 with a 12-50mm kit lens. Check availability at B&H Photo and Amazon.

Pentax K-01: The Mirrorless K-Mount
The Pentax K-01 is a new mirrorless camera featuring the eternal K-mount and an APS-C 16MP CMOS image sensor. The K-01 captures 1080p video at 30fps and a 720p video at 60fps.
Built-in sensor-shift image stabilization expands the benefit to over 25 million legacy K-mount lenses in the world today. The K-01 captures up to 6fps still images and covers a sensitivity range of ISO 100-25600.
The Pentax K-01 should be available in March for $749 (body only) and $899 w/ the new pancake 40mm f/2.8 lens. Check availability on B&H and Amazon.
