The Panasonic Lumix GF5 is a 12.1MP Micro Four Thirds camera. It is the most compact of Panasonic’s mirrorless line-up and features a live view 3-inch touchscreen LCD. The GF5 offers 1080p HD video capture and a sensitivity range of ISO 160-12,800.
The GF5 will be available with the GF5 body and standard 14-42mm kit lens for $599, and will be available with the GF5 body and power zoom lens for $749. [Read more…]

The Panasonic Lumix GX1 is a new Micro Four Thirds camera that steps up from the GF-series. The GX1 features a 16MP image sensor, 1080/60i AVCHD video capture and a 3-inch touchscreen display. The GX1 offers a sensitivity range of ISO 160-12800 and is compatible with the new LVF2 electronic viewfinder (a 1.44-million dot resolution viewfinder).
The Panasonic Lumix GX1 should be available in December at an initial retail price from $699 for body only, $799 with a standard kit lens, or $949 with an X-series kit lens. Check availability on Amazon.com.

Panasonic has announced a new 3D point and shoot camera. The new Lumix 3D1 captures 8MP 3D images and 3D video at 1080/60i. As a standard 2D camera though, the 3D1 will capture 12MP images, as well as ordinary 1080/60i video.
The 3D1 should be available in December 2011 at an initial retail price of $499.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.

In a Lumix campaign earlier this year, Panasonic touted in commercials like the one below that “Lumix cameras make amazing photos easy.”
Does the presentation of the commercial go too far to snub photographers (like Nikon recently did), or is it just clever marketing on Panasonic’s part?

Along with the new LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm lens, Panasonic has also introduced a new LUMIX G “X” telephoto zoom lens, the LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 45-175mm/F4.0-5.6 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. lens.
The 45-175mm lens offers a electric-powered zoom operation, a first of its kind. On the Micro Four Thirds cameras, the new lens offers an equivalent field of view of 90-350mm on a full frame camera. [Read more…]
