FCP X Export

Apple has upgraded Final Cut Pro X to version 10.0.1 adding XML import and export, media stems export and Xsan support for multi-user workflows.  You can also create a custom starting timecode in order to accommodate bars and tone.  Additionally, transitions can now be added to connected clips without the need to create a secondary storyline. Top 10 Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 Lens Reviews on Amazon

September 20, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Sigma 200-500mm

The Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 lens is a $26,000 beast of a lens.  It’s also one that few photographers will ever hope to own.  But that didn’t stop several people from reviewing the lens on Amazon with some rather humorous takes on what the lens has fictitiously done for them.

The sample images are pretty entertaining too…

Canon Full Frame Camera

What would you say about a lower resolution full-frame camera from Canon?  Something more like the 12MP of the original 5D, but with improved noise handling of the newer DSLRs?  Hmm…

Sounds good, eh? [Read more…]

International Space Station Time Lapse of Earth at Night

September 19, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Check out the above view of Earth from the International Space Station at night.  I was surprised to see how much area that a lightning strike covered with its glow.  I couldn’t find any info about which camera was used to capture these images, but it would make sense that it’s a Nikon D3s or other Nikon body since the raw images were sourced from NASA.

Ricoh Stepping Up Mirrorless Camera Offerings

September 19, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Ricoh KR-5 Super II

Ricoh’s president was recently quoted saying that “Ricoh will offer characteristic compact cameras under its own label, while trying to bring the Pentax brand on par with Nikon Corp. and Canon Inc. in interchangeable-lens cameras.”  While we have no specs or details on what the camera will be like, the source article notes that it would not necessarily be an expansion of the recently-announced Pentax Q system, but rather a more prosumer offering with a larger image sensor.

Of course, the Pentax reference comes from recent news that Ricoh is acquiring the company, effective October 1.
