Singular Software has released a beta version of Plural Eyes for Final Cut Pro X. While FCP X offers the ability to automatically sync audio and video clips natively, it still comes up quite short for all but the simplest of setups. Multi-cam is next to impossible with FCP X; however, the new Plural Eyes beta release gives a glimmer of hope for editing basic multi-cam projects in FCP X by syncing multi-cam footage. Likewise, syncing multiple takes to a single audio clip is a challenge in FCP X, but is something that the new Plural Eyes beta shreds through easily. [Read more…]

HDR Expose 2 is a new HDR program that leverages Unified Color’s Beyond RGB color technology. There are a gaggle of HDR programs out there and most of them seem to do very similar things. However, I had the chance to sit down for a walk-through of the pre-release version of HDR Expose 2 at PhotoPlus in October and was stoked at what I saw this program do.
Check out this intro video to the brightness histogram for a little taste of how HDR Expose 2 works. [Read more…]

It looks like both the Nikon D4 and D800 may be just around the corner. Nikon Rumors picked up word that the full frame Nikon D4 would show up in January at or around PMA/CES 2012.
Nikon Rumors cites a high level of confidence for a 16.2MP shooter that can capture 11 fps and will use the recently announced XQD memory cards.
Lots of questions about the camera still; however, should these turn out to be the real deal, the Nikon D4 looks to be a direct response to Canon’s recently-introduced EOS 1D X. The AF operation at f/8 is sure to stir the forums and may be enough to sway the frustrated birders out there if the AF speed at f/8 is up to snuff.
Additionally, Nikon has lagged behind on video features thus far in the HDSLR race, so it will be interesting to see if this new flagship steps it up in that department as well and matches up to the seriously upgraded video features in the 1D X.
