Tiffen Dfx 3 Premiere Pro Film Stocks Panel Comparison
Tiffen Dfx v3 is a suite of filters and effects that is available for popular video and photo applications as a plug-in or a standalone application. Over the past few months, I have been using the software suite primarily in Premiere Pro CS5.5. However, I have also touched on the standalone app and as well as the After Effects and Lightroom plug-in integration.
As with any software or plug-in, understanding the capabilities of it is paramount to fully utilizing the application to meet the needs of your workflow. I don’t pretend to have an exhaustive understanding of all that’s within Tiffen Dfx 3 at this point; however, I have used it enough to realize where it meets many of my needs and makes life easier in post-production. Sony Vegas Pro editors can now get Boris Continuum Complete 8 to add onto Vegas Pro versions 10 and 11. All BCC filters take advantage of either multi-processing or OpenGL acceleration. Here’s a short video that takes you behind the scenes of ‘Act of Valor‘, which was shot on the 5D Mark II, and shows how Adobe products were used to help make the film. I knew that Adobe products were used quite a bit on the film; however, I was still surprised to hear that most of the visual effects in the film were done in After Effects.
It looks like most/all of the Adobe products that Bandito Bros used can be found in Adobe Production Premium.

Adobe is about to shake things up a bit with a new subscription model for its Creative Suite applications. Adobe has kinda soured the milk recently with its decision to cut upgrades for earlier versions of its software (which it later rescinded for this upgrade cycle), so I’m curious to see how all of this shakes out. Exposure 4 Light Leak
Following up on the preview of Exposure 4 from last week, Alien Skin has officially released Exposure 4, which is a plug-in for Photoshop CS4+, Elements 9+ and Lightroom 2+.
Exposure 4 allows for post-processing photos with a number of film presets, texture overlays, light leaks and more. Check out the preview video below.
Exposure 4 is available direct from Alien Skin’s website. It costs $249 for the full version. Upgrades from any prior version of Exposure is $99. Exposure 3 users who bought in since November 2011 can get the Exposure 4 upgrade for free.
