Several leaks and rumors point to a refresh of the excellent Sony RX100 (read my RX100 review) coming later this month. According to a leak of the RX100M2 manual, the camera will feature a hot shoe for attaching speedlights or other accessories and a tilting LCD screen. Olympus to Supply Sony with Lens Parts; Olympus 400mm f/4 Lens Coming for Sony Alpha?
Sony became the largest shareholder of Olympus in September 2012. Since then, we’ve waited for the relationship to lead to more collaboration between the companies.
Olympus recently revealed that it will soon being supplying lens parts to Sony. According to an Olympus spokesperson,
The imaging sensor has already started to source from Sony to Olympus. And the lens [parts] and lens units will start to source from Olympus to Sony.
While Olympus refused to specify the extent of the lens parts supplies to Sony, rumors suggest that Olympus will develop a 400mm f/4 lens for Sony Alpha A-mount cameras to be unveiled in early 2014.

The rumors have been out there for a while – Sony is done with the Translucent Mirror Technology and going full mirrorless in its Alpha A-mount cameras. Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di USD Lens for Sony Alpha Cameras Now In Stock
The Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di USD lens for Sony Alpha mount is now shipping. Interestingly, the lens carries the same $1299 price tag for the Sony Alpha version even though it does not offer the Vibration Compensation function feature found in the Canon and Nikon versions.
(For those unfamiliar with Sony Alpha cameras, they feature sensor-based image stabilization and, therefore, do not require a lens-based image stabilization function.)

Sony Sues RED for Patent Infringement by RED ONE, EPIC and Scarlet Cameras
Round 2 ladies and gentlemen.
Recall a couple months back when RED initiated suit against Sony for patent infringement by Sony’s F65, F55 and F5 cinema cameras. RED wanted to literally have Sony’s cameras pulled from shelves and destroyed.
Now, it’s Sony’s turn.
On the eve of NAB 2013, Sony released a statement that it has filed suit against RED for infringing on seven of its patents. [Read more…]

Sony NEX-9 to Use Full Frame Alpha Lenses?
The upcoming full frame NEX-9 is rumored to accept full frame Sony Alpha lenses; however, it is supposed to do so without the use of the LA-EA3 NEX-to-Alpha converter like the Sony VG900 camcorder uses.
