The Fuji X-A2 was just announced and features a 16.3MP APS-C sensor with a tilting LCD that lets you rotate it to be viewable from the front of the camera. It’s a “selfie” feature according to Fuji.
The X-A2 is the latest in the Fuij X-series mirrorless camera line and ships with a new Fuji XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS zoom lens, which Fuji claims delivers 3.5-stops of camera shake reduction. The X-A2 also features a new AF system, built-in WiFi and captures 1080p video. [Read more…]

4K was definitely a prominent buzzword at CES this year; however, it is so common now that is not quite as buzz-worthy on consumer products as it has been in the past couple of years. One of the great new features on the Canon 7D Mark II is the ability to shoot timelapse photos without the need for the overpriced Canon TC-80N3, which was required on prior Canon pro and prosumer DSLRs if you wanted to shoot in interval mode.
However, when the Canon 7D Mark II was initially announced, there was some confusion about its timelapse capabilities because some of the initial specs and documentation referenced that it could be programmed to capture photos in intervals between 1 and 99 images. That would suck and be pretty much a pointless feature since a second of video footage from a timelapse would contain at least 24 images (e.g., 1080p video at 24fps). [Read more…]
Phlearn is back with a great lighting tutorial using a cheap DIY light setup that costs less than $50. More importantly, Aaron Nace breaks down how to use the lights to get a certain look. He goes further to show his camera’s settings for the shots and how to work with your subject to get the best possible portrait with this setup.

New rumors suggest that Canon may launch three cameras as successors to the 5D Mark III. Two of the cameras are rumored to be named as 5Ds models with 53MP sensors – both with and without an AA filter. The third camera would carry the basic 5D name as the 5D Mark IV. [Read more…]

LaCie announced its new Rugged RAID drive at CES 2015 with a Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 interface. The new drive uses two internal hard drives that are preconfigured in hardware RAID 0 for sustained performance of up to 240 MB/s. [Read more…]
