As expected, the Sony NEX-6 is a 16.1MP mirrorless camera situated in Sony’s NEX lineup between the NEX-5R and the NEX-7.
The NEX-6 features an advanced, hybrid AF system comprised of phase-detect (read: DSLR AF system) and contrast-detect AF methods, which is the same system found on the new NEX-5R that was introduced last month. The NEX-6 also offers 10fps still image capture with AF tracking and a sensitivity up to ISO 25600.
The NEX-6 features the same XGA OLED viewfinder found on the NEX-7, as well as a DSLR-style mode dial. The camera captures 1080/60p HD video and offers integrated WiFi sharing and camera apps via Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app on iOS and Android devices.
Along with the Sony NEX-6, a new 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 powered zoom lens, a 35mm f/1.8 lens and a 10-18mm OSS zoom lens were announced for the Sony NEX line of cameras.
