Check out the above Sony A7R II hands-on video that covers some of the key highs and lows. It’s a long video but some good info in there. Midway through the video, you get some direct comparisons to the Canon 5Ds R as well.
Canon 5Ds R vs. Sony A7R II Hands-On Review
Check out this video from Kai at Digital Rev as he does a hands-on comparison between the 50MP Canon 5Ds R and the 42MP Sony A7R II. This review is even a little more superficial than others he has done, but you get a clear sense of his first impression.
Personally, I think the 5Ds R and A7R II are mostly going to be finding their way into different kinds of photographers’ camera bags. With the A7R II being a more popular pick for a wider variety of images, while the 5Ds R is a little more niche for landscape and studio work where low sensitivity and high resolution are the primary concerns.
Have you considered these two cameras as competing options? Did you buy one over the other?

Sony A7R II Hands-On Review
Kai from DigitalRev TV is back with another entertaining hands-on review. This time, the new Sony A7R II is on deck. The photography corner of the Internet is freaking out over this camera and, it appears, that is for good reason.
Sony has been killing it lately and it looks like the A7R II is putting Canon and Nikon to shame is several different regards. Sony continues to take risks in the digital camera market and it looks like those are paying off with products that photography enthusiasts love.
Sony RX100 IV at 1000fps
The new Sony RX100 IV is a pretty amazing little camera. I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet but I’m really looking forward to it. A couple of the coolest features in my book are the 4K video capture and the HD slow motion at up to 1000 fps.
Check out this video captured handheld at 1000fps. [Read more…]

Reminder: Sony’s A7S is Incredible in Low Light
We’ve seen many examples of the Sony A7S and just how good it is in low light. Well, here’s another that proves it is the low light king for affordable full frame cameras.
In this short preview video, Tony Northrup walks us through the high ISO settings of the Sony A7S, Sony A7 II and Nikon D810. The Sony A7S’ reach up to ISO 409,600 puts it just head and shoulders above the low light capabilities of the Nikon D810 and the A7 II.
Whether its the right overall camera for you, however, requires examining what you need out of the camera day to day. For low light shooting though, the Sony A7S remains in a league of its own.
