The new Sony HDR-AS10 and HDR-AS15 are new Action Cams aimed at the GoPro crowd. The compact cameras shoot 1080p HD video 30fps; however, they also have the ability to capture 720p HD video at either 30fps, 60fps or even 120fps for some great slow motion effects in a very compact package. The Sony NEX-5R is a new mirrorless camera featuring a 16.1MP CMOS sensor with phase-dectection AF (i.e., what DSLRs use) built directly into the sensor. In fact, there are 99 phase-detection AF points arrayed on the sensor. This should speed up the AF system considerably. [Read more…]
PocketWizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 Support for 5D Mark III May Arrive in 2 Weeks

PocketWizard has provided an update on the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 support for the 5D Mark III. I know a lot of you are interested in this update because I’ve received numerous questions about it since the recent PocketWizard firmware update for Nikon models added support for the D800 and D4.
They currently have a firmware version that looks promising and are in the process of testing all of the features with all Canon DSLR models to ensure support across the product line. The guys at PocketWizard have literally stopped answering the phones, checking email and answering questions on Facebook in order to finalize this firmware update and get it out the door.
Right now, their hope is to have a release “within the next couple of weeks” but no promises on a firm date.
Stay tuned for the latest.

Capture Camera Clip System Review
The Capture Camera Clip System by Peak Design is a unique camera clip that will allow you to clip your camera to any belt or backpack strap. This system has to be one of the most innovative designs I have seen in awhile. It started out as a Kickstarter project, which quickly gained traction and funding.
My initial thoughts when I finally got my hands on the Capture was this is the coolest thing ever. Not only can I clip it to any belt or strap, but the quick-release plate is an Arca Swiss compatible. That means it will connect into my tripod system without any problems. No switching out quick-release plates. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Camera Coming?

When Polaroid dropped its Android-based compact camera at CES 2012, we knew it was a sign of what was coming. Honestly though, I didn’t think it would take as long to see an Android-powered camera from another manufacturer. This month, however, Nikon introduced the Coolpix S800c compact camera that runs Android 2.3 under the hood. I think we’re about to see an onslaught of these in the next few months – particularly at CES 2013.
The latest rumor of a non-phone Android-powered camera comes from Samsung. The electronics giant (who just got spanked by Apple over patent infringements regarding Samsung’s popular smartphones’ similarity to the iPhone) may be putting together the “Samsung Galaxy S Camera.” [Read more…]
