Photoshop Express 2.0 for iOS

March 16, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Adobe has updated Photoshop Express for Apple iOS to version 2.0.  The update includes the ability to purchase an in-app camera pack that leverages powerful noise reduction based on the outstanding tech in Lightroom 3 and CS5.  Additionally, the $3.99 camera pack offers a self-timer shutter trigger and an auto-review option.

You can find Photoshop Express 2.0 in the Apple App Store – and it’s still free.  If you want the extra horsepower of the above features though, you’ll have to spring for the $3.99 Adobe Camera Pack as a purchase within the Photoshop Express App.

Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 Release Candidates Available

March 10, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Adobe has made release candidates of Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 available for download in Adobe Labs.  These versions add RAW file support for the following cameras:

  • Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T3i / Kiss X5)
  • Canon EOS 1100D (Rebel T3 / Kiss X50)
  • Hasselblad H4D-40
  • Olympus E-PL1s

  • Olympus XZ-1
  • Samsung NX11

A number of new lens profiles have also been added, along with several bug fixes.  Additional release notes are indicated on the respective download pages for each product.

Remember, these are release candidates, which means they’ve been pretty well tested and Adobe thinks they are ready for full release; however, it’s recommended that you keep production work to prior versions until the official releases drop.  Expect those to come soon though.  Release candidates mean that the final versions are just around the corner.

Lightroom 3.4 release candidate can be downloaded here.

Camera Raw 6.4 release candidate can be downloaded here.

Massive 750,000 Layer PSD Took 4 Years to Create

January 29, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Digital photo-realist artist extraordinaire, Bert Monroy, spent the past 4 years cooking up this masterpiece of Times Square that serves as a tribute to the “who’s who” in the world of digital imaging.

The flattened image is 6.52GB and was built with almost 3,000 individual Photoshop and Illustrator files.  The image is zoomable on his site if you want to get closer up to personalities like Russel Brown, John Knoll and Scott Kelby (among many others) within the image.

The finished image will be on display at Photoshop World in Orlando, Florida from March 30 to April 1, 2011.

Photoshop Elements 9 Book for Digital Photographers Now Shipping

December 14, 2010 By Eric Reagan

It looks like Scott Kelby’s new Photoshop Elements 9 book has started shipping from Amazon.com.

As I’ve said before, if you are a photographer struggling with Photoshop Elements (or any version for that matter), you could do a lot worse than picking up a book penned by Kelby.

If you were holding off getting this book for a photographer on your shopping list because you didn’t know if the pre-order would get here, it looks like you’ll have no trouble getting it delivered in time for Christmas morning.

You can find it here on Amazon.

DSLR Video Editing for Photographers

DSLR Video Editing in Premiere Pro CS5

Adobe Evangelist Jason Levine recently uploaded his final chapter in his 5-part series that covered DSLR Video Editing for Photographers using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.  Previously, I passed along parts 1 through 3.  Since this is the final video in the series, I’ve embedded all 5 in this post below.

It’s good content, especially for those of us knew to the video side of DSLRs.  Enjoy.
