Canon PowerShot A2200 Hands-On Review

The Canon PowerShot A2200 is a new 14.1MP, budget-oriented point and shoot camera with a retail price around $140.  The A2200 offers a 4x optical zoom that gives you a 28-112mm equivalent zoom range.  The A2200 can also capture 720p HD video and it sports a 2.7-inch LCD.

PocketWizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 Available This Month for Nikon

Ahead of CES last week, PocketWizard finally launched the MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 for Nikon DSLRs.  I’ve gotten a couple of emails asking about these, so yes, they should start shipping any day now. I got to play around with them a little at a pre-CES event and I can assure you they are working well with Nikon DSLRs.

Fuji X100, HS20EXR and TTL Flashes

Sony CLM-V55 Official Details and Images Released

Sony just dropped the official details and product photos of the new 5-inch CLM-V55 monitor for Alpha DSLRs – or just about any other DSLR with an HDMI-out.

Sony CLM-V55 Key Features

  • Clip-on attachment for Sony hot shoe or standard ISO hot/cold shoe
  • 5-inch WVGA LCD (800 x 480 resolution)
  • Tilt/swivel mount
  • Pixel magnification for 1:1 zoom of HD image
  • 16:9 and 4:3 on-screen markers
  • Brightness, contrast, colour tone (phase), colour temp and auto dimmer controls
  • Mono speaker
  • Headphone jack
  • Volume control
  • Battery (included) or AC powered
  • LCD hood included

Olympus TG-610 and TG-310

Olympus announced the waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof TG-610 and TG-310 at CES 2011 last week.  Both cameras feature a 14MP sensor and the ability to capture 720p HD video.  The TG-310 offers a 3.6x optical zoom lens, while the TG-610 steps up to a 5x optical zoom.

The TG-610 also offers a high resolution 3-inch LCD at 920k-dot res, while the TG-310 has a 230k-dot res 2.7-inch LCD.  Both models are compatible with SDXC memory cards.

Both cameras are waterproof down to 16 feet, shockproof at up to 5 feet drops and freezeproof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

The TG-610 should be available in February at an initial retail price of $299.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

The TG-310 should also be available in February, but at a lower initial retail price of $199.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Olympus SP-610UZ

The Olympus SP-610UZ is the successor to the SP-600UZ.  The SP-610UZ offers a 22x zoom lens (28-616mm equivalent), which is up from 15x zoom on the SP-600UZ, and image stabilization built-in.  Other upgrades include a 14MP sensor (up from 12MP) and a 3-inch LCD (up from 2.7-inch).

The SP-610UZ captures 720p video and is compatible with SDXC memory cards.  The SP-610UZ should be available in February at an initial retail price of $229.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Olympus VG-120

The Olympus VG-120 is a new compact camera introduced at CES 2011.  The VG-120 sports a 14MP sensor, 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD.  The VG-120 can capture 720p HD video at 30fps.

JVC 4K2K Camcorder at CES 2011

JVC presented a concept 4K2K “consumer” camcorder at CES 2011.  Just looking at the camera though, I have a tough time classifying it as a consumer model.  And while JVC was mum on a target price point, $2000 is about what I would put at the top-end of the consumer price range, which would seem to be a little low for a camera of this caliber.
