Shooting HDSLR Video with a Glidecam

I picked up a Glidecam 2000 a couple of months ago after talking with the Glidecam guys at NAB.  One of the operators at the booth gave me a short course in how to use it effectively, which turned out to be very helpful as I’ve been learning the ropes.

I haven’t arrived by any means, but I’ve started getting some pretty fun and usable shots with it.  My church’s VBS was a couple of weeks ago and I took the opportunity to have a bit of live practice with it.

Sony A35 Availability Update

The Sony A35 now appears to be widely in stock and shipping.  The latest translucent-mirror alternative to DSLRs looks to head up the entry-level end of Sony’s Alpha line with reports that the flagship Sony A77 will be announced next week.

The A35 sports a 16MP CMOS sensor and fast live view autofocus unlike any other manufacturer has delivered in a DSLR.  It also records full 1920 x 1080 AVCHD video.

How to Import AVCHD Files from a Memory Card or Hard Drive in Final Cut Pro X

For all of its faults, Final Cut Pro X offers much better native file compatibility than its predecessor.  However, all files aren’t equal when working in Final Cut Pro X.  Some files, like the .MTS files produced from AVCHD video capture, require you to take a couple of extra steps to get them into FCP X.

Sony A77 Up For Good Design Award (Before Official Release)

The Sony A77 was briefly featured on a nomination page for the Good Design Expo starting later this month in Tokyo.  The listing confirmed several key features for the new A77, including a 24MP Exmor CMOS image sensor powered by a new BIONZ processor that will help the A77 deliver a whopping 12fps in full resolution stills. Canon 7D Film ‘Like Crazy’ in Theaters October 28

Like Crazy

After winning Best Picture Grand Jury Prize and Best Actress Special Jury Prize at Sundance last year AND being picked up by Paramount for a cool $4 million, ‘Like Crazy’ is on its way to the box office this Fall.  It was shot on a Canon 7D – a camera you can buy for around $1600.
