Microsoft has released a new camera codec pack that will allow RAW files for supported cameras to be viewable in Windows Explorer and other software that’s based on Windows Imaging Codecs.
Loads of new and old cameras are supported, including the latest models like the Canon 5D mark III and Nikon D800. More details on Microsoft’s website.
Apple has issued Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.14, which adds RAW file support to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11 for the Canon Rebel T4i and the Sony A37.

Canon issued an update to its Digital Photo Professional software that purportedly fixes the “soft” image problem when processing 5D Mark III RAW files in DPP. Check it out via the links below (hit the red arrows on the right to download the software). [Read more…]
Canon Japan has issued a statement acknowledging a problem with the Canon Digital Photo Professional software when used to convert 5D Mark III RAW files. When using DPP 3.11.10, 5D Mark III images can appear soft. Canon says it will update the software for a mid-April release, which should provide a solution to this problem.
