Hasselblad Lunar Delayed Until June

April 26, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Hasselblad Lunar

The Hasselblad Lunar was supposed to launch this month; however, Hasselblad has reportedly informed Amateur Photographer “that the Lunar is ‘scheduled’ for June availability.” No reason was provided for the delay in the launch of the exotic camera.

Thus far, I have heard of no one who is actually looking forward to this camera . . . even though it will be available with a Zebra Wood body. I have seen or heard nothing from Hasselblad’s marketing that suggests anything other than excess for the simple sake of it. [Read more…]

Hasselblad Lunar

The Hasselblad Lunar is expected to go on sale for $5,000 or so in April. In its promotion of the upcoming camera, Hasselblad is detailing the five models in the Lunar collection based on their stylistic exterior features – as opposed to what kind of images the Sony NEX-7 internals can produce.

The Lunar Collection consists of:

  • Black Leather
  • Brown Leather
  • Carbon Fiber
  • Mahogany
  • Zebra wood

Hasselblad Lunar Arrives Next Month

March 10, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Hasselblad Lunar

Hasselblad has confirmed that its new $5,000 Lunar mirrorless camera will launch next month.

The Hasselblad Lunar will be officially launched in April 2013.

We will, within a short time, launch a new and dedicated website section for the Lunar with all the information.

Recall that the Hasselblad Lunar is basically a rebadged Sony NEX-7 with Hasselblad’s cosmetic changes and a $4,000 markup. I can’t think of a good reason anyone should buy this camera, but I’m open to suggestions…

Hasselblad Lunar Mirrorless Camera w/ Sony E-Mount

September 18, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Hasselblad-Lunar-Leather-Grip

Hasselblad has unveiled plans to launch a high-end mirrorless camera with a Sony E-mount.  Dubbed the “Lunar”, the camera will sport a 24.3MP APS-C sensor and capture full HD video.

The Hasselblad Lunar appears to be a rebadged Sony NEX-7 with lots of Hasselblad fluff on the outside.  The body and grip of the Lunar will feature carbon fiber, titanium, wood, leather and precious metals, including gold, to help drive up the price to around €5000 (no word yet on US pricing).

The Hasselblad Lunar should arrive in the first quarter of 2013.
