The Pentax K-3 II is expected to be announced later this week on April 23 as a replacement to the current Pentax K-3. The DSLR is expected to feature a 24MP APS-C sensor with no low pass filter and step up to 1080/60p video capture.

New rumors suggest that Nikon will (finally) release full frame mirrorless camera with a traditional F mount later this year or in early 2016. This could very well be a low-res image of Canon’s upcoming EF 50mm f/1.8 IS STM lens, which has been rumored for quite some time. Photo Rumors received the image from a tipster with no further details about announcement time frame or availability.
Even from the low resolution image, it looks like it has a better build quality and certainly has a better focus ring that the $125 Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Of course, with Image Stabilization and the STM motor inside, I suspect this lens will run quite a bit higher than the “nifty fifty” seen below. [Read more…]
A recently published patent application reveals a new version of the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR lens for the Nikon 1 system. The optical formula in the patent focuses on make the lens more compact to accommodate the smaller Nikon 1 system.
Of course, the patent was just published on only filed back in October 2014, so don’t expect the lens anytime soon since the current version just started shipping a few months ago (it was announced in March 2014 alongside the Nikon 1 V3) and is still not regularly in stock (currently backordered at B&H).

Canon is now rumored to deliver the second generation of the Cinema EOS C300 and the C500 for NAB 2015 in early April.
Canon Rumors says that it has confirmed that the C500 Mark II would arrive – most likely alongside a 4K C300 Mark II cinema camera too.
Recall that we saw the Canon Cinema EOS C100 Mark II unveiled back in October 2014. It saw mild, yet important, upgrades from its predecessor.
Pushing the C300 Mark II to 4K is a big step up but still only a logical progression for a $12k+ camera in 2015. No word yet on what improvements the C500 Mark II will see.
The Canon 5D Mark IV is rumored to be the true successor to the 5D Mark III, while the new Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R will be part of a different branch of the Canon 5D line. The latest rumors point to a test camera that is in the wild and suggest that it could ultimately be the Canon 5D Mark III successor. [Read more…]
