Watch This Video that Proves 4K Looks More Realistic . . . and Could Mean the End of the World

So, 4K is just another fad, right?

LG set out to prove that’s not the case and that 4K, indeed, looks more realistic thanks to the enhanced detail. Check out the video above wherein LG tests out the perception of job applicants in a horrifying way.

Sony Unveils New HDR-AS30V POV Action Camera

Sony has added the new HDR-AS30V to is action cam line-up, following the AS15 and AS10 from a year ago. The AS30V adds 1080/60p video capture as a step up for 1080/30p on the HDR-AS15.

This is also the first Sony action cam to feature GPS on board. It can capture single 11.9MP still images, as well as capturing images with interval capture mode.

The HDR-AS30V also captures 720p footage up to 120fps. A Carl Zeiss lens delivers a 170° wide-angle view, along with SteadyShot image stabilization. [Read more…]

Canon Unveils New CN-E35mm T1.5 L F Cinema Prime Lens

Canon EF 35mm Cinema Prime Lens

Initially announced as under development just prior to NAB 2013, Canon has released a new cinema prime lens – the CN-E35mm T1.5 L F.

This new lens is a full frame EF-mount lens that marks the sixth lens in the EF cinema prime line-up. As a full frame lens, it is compatible with the Canon 1D C, 1D X, 5D Mark III and, of course, all EOS Cinema cameras with EF mounts.

Other lenses in the line-up include the 14mm, 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 135mm EF-mount Cinema prime lenses.

The Canon CN-E35mm T1.5 L F Cinema prime lens is expected to be available in December 2013 for $5,200.

Adobe Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for $9.99/mo . . . But There’s a Catch

One of the biggest criticisms since Adobe killed perpetual licenses and forced Creative Cloud memberships on users who want access to future versions of Photoshop has been the price. The full Creative Cloud subscription that includes all the apps runs $50/mo. Single apps, like Photoshop CC, run $20/mo.

Jimmy Beltz and I discussed this very issue during a live cast shortly after the launch of Creative Cloud. I believe it was Jimmy that came up with the suggestion of offering Photoshop CC and Lightroom for a combined price of $10/mo.
